REPUTATION AND QUALITY MATTER MORE THAN  A CHEAP DEAL
Some instruments just don't encourage you to play as they just feel stiff or hard to play.  Some actively discourage you from playing because as well as being hard to play they sound just awful and toy like.  Often its the low price paid (Under $40 and its pretty much a toy) but even expensive ukuleles by well know guitar makers can be lack lustre and "boxy".

Just because you are a big Guitar maker does not mean that you know how to make a great ukulele. Ukuleles and Guitars are very very different beasts.  Stick with a specialist ukulele maker that loves what they do and you rarely go wrong.

Buy from overseas mega box store and have a problem with your purchase? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT, just try getting it fixed, returned, exchanged when you are on they other side of the world!

WHAT SHOULD I BUY
When I get asked "what ukulele should I get", and I get asked that a lot, my mind always jumps to Ohana Ukuleles  for value and quality.  I like that Ohana play well straight out of the box, I like that Ohana look great too, but most of all I like that I can rely on Ohana Ukuleles encourage my students to practice and play.
